SENTENCE FOR SHOP-LIFTING
COURT CONSIDERS CHILDREN. MARRIED WOMAN’S PENALTY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The magistrate, Mr. E. C. Levvey, reconsidered his decision in the case of a married woman with five children who was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for shoplifting and admitted her to probation for a year. The magistrate said he was under the impression that the youngest child was aged 16, but in view of the fact that several children were of tender years the court would take a milder view, which might meet the full merits of the case.
