WHITE STAR BENEFIT BALL.
The fifth annual benefit ball conducted by the employees of the White Star organisation at New Plymouth will taka place at the Agricultural Hall on Tuesday, September 5. Last year over £5O was raised for charitable organisations at New Plymouth and the whole of the net proceeds is always donated towards some such object. This year the committee is donating the whole of the net proceeds for equal division between the South African veterans and Returned Soldiers’ Associations. No effort is being spared in the decorations and genera] organisation to eclipse all previous efforts, and the response so far points to a most successful and enjoyable ball. Special attention is being given to the decoration of the outer hall and something splendid may be expected. The catering is in the hands of the Hygienic, and the arrangements in the supper-room will be under the capable supervision of Mrs. David Blackley and an enthusiastic band of assistants. The White Star service will run free buses from Opunake, Waitara, Inglewood, Opunake and to all the suburbs after the ball. A good orchestra has been engaged.
