WAREA DISTRICT NEWS
HALL SOCIETY MEETS. The annual meeting of the Warea Hall Society was held on Saturday, Mr. E. Chapman presiding over an attendance' of twelve. The chairman reported that the year had been satisfactory financially. The net profit was £4O 9s 7d and would have been greater but for additions and improvements made to the hall and the frontage costing £l5. The itemised accounts were: Income, hall rents
received £2l 0s 6d; library rent, £1 2s 6d; net profit from dances, etc., £l5 4s sd; net profit on gala day, £5B 6s 8d; total, £95 4s Id. Expenditure: Lighting, £2 10s 9d; honorarium, £2 2s; rates, £2 18s 3d; interest, £l7 3s 6d; insurance, £6 19s sd; sundries, £6 Bs. lOd; additions, £l4; improvements, £3 2s 3d. The balance-sheet was adopted on the motion of Mr. F. Fowles. Messrs. E. Chapman and D. Langley were re-elected president and secretary
respectively,- and Messrs. C. Moss, C. Sole, H. Wells, A. Goodin, C. Corbett were appointed the committee. Votes of thanks were passed to retiring officers and committee and to Mr. C. B. Webster, the honorary auditor. The competition for a heifer calf given by Mr. C. Corbett was won by Mr. W. Hurst, New Plymouth.
