SILVER FOUND ON PIAKO
CLAIM BY SHIPPING COMPANY. £298 HELD BY THE CUSTOMS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Melbourne, August 31. A claim has been lodged on behalf of the New Zealand Shipping Company for English silver coin worth £298 seized from the cargo steamer Piako on the ground that the silver found was the company’s property. The Victorian Collector of Customs, who has had charge cf it since the silver was confiscated, says that no one has yet claimed ownership, though it is understood that the New Zealand Government submitted a claim.
