INGLEWOOD CYCLING

WAITARA ROAD RACE. MACKIE FIRST AND FASTEST. The seventh of the series of road races of the Inglewood Cycle Club for- the championship cup was held yesterday, when a road race to Waitara Road, and back was run. Conditions were ideal for good riding, but none of the riders beat Burke’s record of 50m. for the course. Mackie gained' first place and with 51m. 32h. gained fastest time, but as he is not a club member the fastest time goes to T. Standing with 53m. 40s. A good field faced the starter. The Im. men caught the limit riders on the re-' turn trip at, Lepperton ■ station. The return race was interesting, for the limit men hung to the better riders very well, and it was only in the final sprint -that the race was decided. The finish was very close between Mackie, L. Standing, Fussell and Zimmerman, who all crossed the line within two seconds. Details are:— A. Mackie (Im.) 1 L. Standing (4Jm.) 2 F. Fussell (21) 3 J. Zimmerman (21m.) 4 E. Standing (21m.) 5
