TWO HABITUAL CRIMINALS

Wellington, Aug. 17.
John Aser, for breaking, entering and theft (two. charges), was sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day by Mr. Justice Reed to a year’s imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be concurrent. He was declared an habitual criminal. Leslie Clifton Arthur Payne, for breaking, entering and theft (two charges), was sentenced to two years’ hard labour on each charge and declared an habitual criminal. SENTENCES AT INVERCARGILL. BREAKING, ENTERING AND THEFT. Invercargill, Last Night. Among the prisoners sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day were:— Charles Robert McCreath, on 13 charges of breaking, entering and theft, four years’ reformative detention. George Alexander Parry, on similar charges, two and a-half years’ reformative detention. Thomas Connor, for breaking and entering, two years’ hard labour. Thomas George McCreath, for forgery and uttering, two years’ hard labour. Albert John Saunders, for theft of rabbit skins, two years' probation.
