SCHOOL COMMITTEE DANCE. A successful dance organised by the school committee was held in the Tongaporutu hall on Thursday. Music was played by Miss O’Sullivan, Mrs. F. Fuller and Mr. Lewis. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs. O. C. Petersen and Baker.

The lucky number , waltz was won by Miss May Glengarry and Mr. E. Foreman, the statue waltz by Miss Joan Blance and Mr. J. O'Sullivan, and a Monte Carlo dance by Miss Eva Glengarry and Mr. J. Carinell. Mr. J. Cannell was the winner of another competition. A home-made supper was served by the local ladies. As a result of the dance the schools funds will benefit considerably. Basketball Results.

Playing at Tongaporutu Ferry on Saturday, Rovers A basketball girls defeated Rovers B in the last match of the competition by 8 goals to 4. Misses Eva Glengarry and Lesley Blance are in the Tainui representative team to visit New Plymouth on Saturday. The Ahititi-Okau school basketball team won the schools’ tournament at Awakino on Saturday. The Rovers’ basketball club will conclude the season with a ball to be held shortly.

Golf Club Matches. Two competition matches were played by Te Kawau golfers last week, the winners being Miss Fuller and Jolly, Mrs. H. Gray and G. Kendall.

Personal and General. The bridge across the stream near the Okau junction is being repaired. Mr. and Mrs, A. Hamblyn are spending their holidays at Wellington. Mrs. F. Fuller, Tongan Islands, is the guest of Mrs. Southcott. Miss Mary Malone, Kaponga, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. O’Sullivan, Mt. Messenger, during the week-end.
