SUCCESSFUL BALL
COASTAL GOLF CLUB. . MANY VISITORS PRESENT. Beautifully arranged as a nikau palm grove with full-sized trees brought from the bush, the Pungarehu Hall bore ample testimony to the amount of work that the committee of the Coastal Golf Club had carried out in order to make its first annual ball successful. Among the branches were sprinkled tiny coloured electric lights, and together with the skil-fully-made chandeliers, these produced a particularly brilliant arid pleasing effect. Over 200 dancers attended, including visitors from New Plymouth, Eltham and Opunake. A special feature was the supper. The supper room was decorated with bamboos and the tables arranged with camellias and daffodils. Mr. R. B. Fleming was master of ceremonies, and the general committee with Mr. P. Smith as secretary all worked hard. McNeill’s Orchestra played excellently.
