ELTHAM TALKIES.

Pictures with Slim Summerville and Zasu Pitts in the leading roles always provide a good laugh. In "They Just Had to Get Married,” showing at Eltham to-night, these two comedians are starred in , their latest film. The outstanding characteristics of both are the highlights of the show. Summerville is, as usual, foolishly clumsy and comically ill-at-ease, and Zasu Pitts wears her customary heart-broken expression. In the parts of a butler and maid who without warning, together inherit a millionaire’s estate and bank account, they keep the ball rolling at a fast pace, and gusts of laughter last night were numerous. There is delicious by-play in the fash-ionably-dressed marriage ceremony of Summerville and Miss Pitts, and an extreme dance by Slim in a cafe is decidedly clever. The riotous few minutes when the newly-married couple take to horse riding with a gathering of society’s elite has to be seen to be believed. Verree Teasedale as a siren who adds more trouble to the lives of the newlyweds, is convincing as well as beautiful. In the part of the French maid of Zasu Pitts, Fifi Dorsay is vivacious and holds plenty of interest, and another deserving name is that of Roland Young, who acts the casual, blase type very truly.

ADVERTISERS’ NOTICES.

The annual ball of the Stratford Rugby Football Club will be held in the town hall to-night. Good as this club, function has always been in the past it promises this year to surpass its predecessors in no uncertain manner and those who attend can depend on entertainment above criticism.
