HIGH SCHOOL AT INGLEWOOD
IMPROVEMENT IN FACILITIES. LETTER FROM THE DEPARTMENT. The rebuilding of the Inglewood school and the provision of a district high school were again considered by the Taranaki Education Board yesterday. The question of improved facilities for Inglewood and the surrounding districts and of the revision of the plans and estimates was referred to the committee already set up for a report, to which Mr. J. McAllister was added. A letter from the Director of Education (Mr. N. T. Larnbourne) stated that the funds at the department’s disposal were not allocated to the various districts nor were special sums set apart for new buildings, additions and remodelling. The department dealt with every case in its relative urgency to other applications that came before it. This practice was followed with regard to new buildings, additions of remodelling. Applications for remodelling or replacement must give place to requests for grants to cover the cost of new buildings where none at present existed or for additions where the present accommodation was inadequate, x
