SECTION GIVEN FOR HALL. A meeting to discuss ways and means of erecting a .hall at Mimi was held in the Mimi schoolroom on Monday. Mr. D. L. Tate presided over a large attendance. After a general discussion it was unanimously decided to erect a hall. Mr. G. Salway on behalf of Mrs. Salway and himself gave a section next to the school grounds. A committee was set up comprising Messrs A. M. Zimmerman (chairman), Stan Phillips (secretary), G. Baker, D. L. Tate, G. Salway, J. Johnson, E. J. Sulzberger, C. Willison, J. F. Phillips, V. Evans, E. Maxted, M. L. Jonas and W. L. Larsen. A ladies’ committee was also appointed, consisting of Mesdames A. L. Herbert, J. Johnson, E. J. Sulzberger and Miss V. Schieb. Several suggestions were discussed for raising funds, and it is hoped that the hall will be completed before next winter.

The R.S.A. dance held in the Urenui hall recently was an outstanding success, and the funds will, benefit as a result. Visitors were present from many parts of North Taranaki. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss E. Mooney and Mr. C. Clark and Mrs. A. Strachan and partner. The music was played by McNeill’s orchestra, and Mr. F. T. Clark was master of ceremonies. The supper arrangements ycre in the hands of Mesdames Des Forges (convener), D. Dunbar, G. Salway, J. Johnson, G. N. Fuller, A. Smith, F. T. Clark, W. Scott and Miss B. Gibson.

Dancing Floor Renewal, The annual meeting ,of the Urenui hall trustees was held on Thursday evening. Mr. S. Topless presided over a small attendance. The annual report stated that the past year had been a very successful one financially and expenses had been kept down to a minimum to enable the funds to accumulate for repairs to the dancing floor, which would be done as soon as funds permitted.- A donation of £3 was received from the ping-pong club, and the social committee

had raised funds amounting to £lO 18s 6d. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £76 7s 9d. The main items were hall hire £46 18s and social functions and donations £l4 Is. The expenditure, including caretaker’s commission, insurance, rates ■ and repairs, amounted to £36. Mr. C. W. Henwood was elected a trustee in lieu of Mr. G. Loveridge, who had resigned. Mr. L. Rattenbury offered to finish the partition between the supper room and the kitchen. It was I’esolved to ask Mr. D. Wiley to. furnish an estimate for the cost of renewing the dancing floor. Personal. Miss G. Carr has left to commence duty at a private hospital at Stratford. Mrs. Pratt, Feilding, is the .guest of Mrs. A. J. Halcombe. Mrs. W. Pratt has returned from Auckland. Mr. L. Heatley, of the Urenui Post Office staff, is on annual leave, Mrs. A. Strachan is visting New Plymouth. Mrs. H. Carter, who has been., visiting her father, Mr. A. H.
