CIRCULAR ROAD RACE
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. CHAMPIONSHIP ALLOTTED. A meeting of the Circular Road Race Committee was held on Tuesday night, when there present Messrs? F. E. Orbell (chairman), L. E. Smith, R.‘-Yardley, J. Norris, R. Wilson, G. Tuffery, G. Plucke, A. Gable, H. Kay, C. Aroa, R. Browne and H. W. Bocock .(secretary). Correspondence was received from the Taranaki Centre N.Z.L.C.U. stating that the club had been granted the New Zealand 100-mile cycle road championship for 1933. The secretary reported having received file following donations for the race: Bennetts Ltd. (Wanganui), Roadster cycle; Worrall and Co., pair tyres; Skeats and White (Auckland), £1 Is open order; Dunlop Rubber Co., £5 5s cash; Maling and Co. (Christchurch), pair of tyres; Reynolds and Co., one cycle; Phelan,. Lonsdale, Ltd., pair of tyres; Reg. Pearce (Fitzroy), £1 open order; Couchman Cycle Co. (Wellington), one peu of tyres; Otorohanga Sports Club, £2 2s cash;, and Arnold George, £2 2s cash. Mr. J. Sceats had also donated a gold medal for the winner of the club championship race. It was reported that the first euchre party resulted in a profit of £4 10s. The secretary reported that arrangements were in hand to. hold a big ladies’ prize euchre party on August 23. The ladies’ first prize is an open order on McGruers Ltd. to the value of £5 ss. The following remits were adopted:— That all club races be open events to all financial members of affiliated Taranaki cycle clubs, and a competitor to compete for the club points prizes must be a financial member of this club on his second nomination. To be eligible to compete in club championship events a competitor must be a financial member of 28 days’ standing. That membership be A grade riders 5s and B grade riders 2s 6d. A programme committee was set up
epnsisting of H. W. Bocock, D. George, R. Yardley, C. Aroa and L. E. Smith to draw up a programme for the Mountain Road Rafe. It was. decided to hold a special general meeting in the near future to discuss the incorporation of the club. Members expressed sympathy with Mr. L. Tuffery, who had a spill in last Saturday’s race, and the club decided to pay doctor’s fees. All donors to the prize-list are to be thanked for their support.
