OKAIAWA DISTRICT NEWS
CHURCH FUNDS ASSISTED. An enjoyable evening was held at the residence of Mrs. W. Blair recently in aid of the Methodist Church funds. There was a large attendance of the younger folk and their parents. A ping-pong tournament was won by Miss Delia Good and Mr. S. Cleaver. Competitions were won by Mrs. E. Thomas and Messrs! J. and H. Wards. Items were given by the Misses O. and E. Thomas (pianoforte, duets) and Mr. F. Tilley and Derrick Bridgewod (songs). After supper the. Rev. Cottom thanked Mrs. Blair for her hospitality. Mrs. Lees and Miss Crawford have returned from Wanganui. ’
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Barclay left for New Plymouth on Tuesday. At a meeting of old pupils and others held at the Okaiawa school on Monday night it was decided to hold a “back to childhood” ball. Mr. Guy Livingstone was elected chairman and Miss D. Robertson, secretary. All present, comprising Mrs. Evetts, Misses R. Beauchamp, R. Williams, D. Good, R. Evets, D. Corbett, P. Green, A. Butler and Messrs. L. Ritter, R. Wallis. N. Butler,. R. Green, R. Thomas, D. Blair and T. Houlahan, were formed into a committee.
