Mr. W. W. Thomson, New Plymouth, will leave this morning for Heriot, Otago, where his mother is seriously ill.

The death has occurred at Ashburton of Mr. Edwin James Paul, aged 85, states a Press Association message. For over half a century he was the Ashburton representative of the Christchurch Press, his territory in the early days extending from Christchurch to the Bluff, which was covered on horseback. He was for over 50 years a member of St. Stephen's choir, making 60 years’ choir work altogether.
