PRIMARY SCHOOL SOCCER

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. NORTH ISLAND TOURNAMENT. The Taranaki Primary Schools’ Football Association met at New Plymouth last night, Mr. G. Roper presiding. Others present were Messrs. W. Shepherd, J. W. Chapman, A. H. Bensley and V. Parkinson. It was decided to write to Mr. Reeves (Waitara) regarding the playing of Rugby boys in the competitions. The committee considered that the continued playing of such boys was a breach of faith with the Headmasters’ Association and could not be permitted. The Taranaki Rugby Union is to' be asked to receive a deputation to discuss questions regarding school football. Mr. Parkinson reported that arrangements for the North Island Primary Schools’ Football Association’s, annual tournament at Wanganui were nearing completion. A trial would be played tomorrow afternoon at the New Plymouth racecourse, and .after the game 14 boys Would be selected to make the trip. Teams' from- Wanganui, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington would be competing as well. Three days had been allowed for the tournament, August 29 to 31, and its decision would be on the League system.'
