KAIMATA DISTRICT

DISCUSSION ON SHIELD MATCH. The Kaimata Football Club executive met on Monday to discuss the proposal to field a Schneider Shield representative side against the North Taranaki junior representatives. Those present were Messrs. I. V. Buchanan (president), R. Klenner, P. Roberts, W. Herlihy, G. Peters, K. Riley and G. Klenner. Most members considered it too late in the season to enable a fully representative side to be fielded. The dairying season was becoming increasingly busy and players would experience great difficulty in getting the necessary leave, particularly so if the game was played at Waitara, as proposed. The Kaimata delegate on the Schneider Shield Board was instructed to vote against the match being played away from Inglewood as it was felt that so few good players would be able to make the trip that football in the Schneider district would be discredited. The delegate was also instructed to ask for the match to be played before 3 o’clock. The following players were nominated from the Kaimata club for the trial on August 20: L. Jones, J. Stachurski, G. Herlihy, T. Hartigan, H. Klenner, R. Klenner /forwards), L. Simpson, E. Pliillips, S. Cottier (backs). It was agreed to lend the club’s jerseys to the Schneider Shield Board so that the eastern players could take the field in jerseys of the one colour. Six jerseys will be loaned the Inglewood Country Schools’ Association if necessary. Personal Items.
