REPORT REVIEWS PAST YEAR. SMALLER LOSS DISCLOSED. The following report on, the years' operations has been issued to members of the Taranaki Jockey Club preparatory to the annual meeting to be held next week. . The report states:— < • The balance-sheet discloses a loss of £258 3s 3d, as against £1223 last year. This sum includes £lOO depreciation written off (buildings £6O and plant £4O) and £5O 4s on account of bad debts. Both race meetings proved successful financially and from the point of view,, of the public. The club had the distinction of being the first in New Zealand to inaugura + e the win and place system of betting. Patrons very quickly appreciated the alteration and by their support signified their approval. x}Nominations received were not up to usual numbers, but fair fields faced the starter 'or the great majority of races. The committee is grateful to those owners and trainers who have helped the club so consistently. It is with regret we have to record the death during the year of Mrs. W. G. Emeny and Messrs. R. H. Pigott and J. Gibson. The president, vice-president, honorary treasurer, six committeemen and seven stewards retired in accordance with the rules. As the numbers nominated for the various offices do not exceed the number required a ballot will not be necessary. '
