URENUI DISTRICT NEWS
PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL EVENING. An enjoyable evening was spent in the Urenui Hall on Thursday, when members of the Presbyterian guild, assisted by good artists from New Plymouth, gave an excellent entertainment. Songs were sung by Mrs. Ferry, Misses McDonald and Gibson, and Messrs. Fredric, Hirst and Johnson. The community singing was led by Messrs. Fredric and Hirst, and the accompaniments were played by Mrs. Ferry, Miss D. Newton and Mr. Fredric. An amusing dialogue was given by Mesdames J. Guthne, .W. Scott, E. Hopkins, and Misses E. Gibson and W. Raven. A novel competition was won by Mr. W. Scott. Other competitions were won by Mrs. Ferry, Miss McDonald and Messrs. A. H. Halcombe and Johnson. The Rev. A. L. Dixon thanked all those who had helped to make the function such a success. Personal Items. Mrs. A. J. Halcombe has returned from Stratford. Miss V. Schieb has recommenced duty at the Mimi school. Mr. and Mrs. G. Carr are visiting the Alton district Mrs. A. I. Vaughan has returned from Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Howell are on a holiday at New Plymouth. i _ Mrs. Godfrey, Palmerston North, is the guest of her sister Mrs. N. Dempster. Mrs. W. Wilson (Waitoitoi) has returned from Marton. Mr.* and Mrs. V. Tippetts are visiting Hawera. Mr. and Mrs. W. Harvey, Onaero, are visiting friends in Hawera. > 1
