The first case of kidnapping for ransom at Bombay was revealed yesterday when the murdered body of a wealthy Guzerati merchant, Himal Lal, was found on the foreshore. Himal Lal left his offices at 9 a.m., and shortly afterwards one of his clerks received an ultimatum that unless 5000 rupees were deposited at a certain spot Lal would be killed. The clerk informed the police, but apparently too late to prevent the murder.
