MOTHER AND CHILD DEAD

BOTH VICTIMS OF POISONING. WOMAN’ SUFFERS ILL-HEALTIL By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. The death by poisoning of Mrs. Elsie Verna Anderson, aged 26, and her three-year-old daughter, Verna Irene Anderson, at Hastings on June 25 was the subject of an inquest to-day, when a verdict was returned that the infant died as a result of poisoning administered by her mother, who died as the result of poisoning administered by herself while in a state of mental depression brought about mainly by ill-health. The evidence was that the Andersons were not in any immediate distress, always'having plenty of food, and that they had no need to worry on that account. Mrs. Anderson had had one operation and knew that another had to be performed sooner or later. She. had been very despondent as a result since last Christmas, but had never hinted, at doing herself any harm. There was poison in the house wliich the husband, and his brother used for rabbiting.... It was kept in a bottle which was found tinder the bed when the bodies were discovered.
