FOOTBALL AT TAHORA
WIPITI CUP COMPETITION. In the final match of the first round for the Wipiti Cup Kohuratahi and Tahora football teams played a draw last Saturday. A very pleasing feature of the game was the keenness shown by the teams. Despite the heavy rain and muddy ground both teams turned out in full force. Tahora had four of its “regulars” ab sent, but with the aid of a spectator who played in hobnails, fifteen men were secured. Tahora, suiting its play to the day, confined the play to the forwards, and thus managed to make a draw out of what many thought would be a “walk-over” for Kohuratahi. L. Shine kicked two penalties for Tahora and McWilliams kicked two for Kohuratahi, leaving the final score 6-6. Next Saturday Whangamomona and Tahora meet in the second round. Points for the Wipiti Cup now are: Kohuratahi 3, Tahora 3, Whangamomona 0. The Tahora social committee is holding another of its series of dances next Friday. According to reports a large attendance is expected, and the committee has accordingly made extra preparations. Mr. Fougere’s “Nikoteen Orchestra” will supply the music. Mr. C. Morton has returned from Auckland. Mr. E. R. Nicholson, New Plymouth, is spending a holiday with his daughter, Mrs. C. Drader. Mr. B. Carter has returned from Ngaere.
