RETURNED SOLDIERS MEET

EXECUTIVE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs. D. L. McKay (president), F. L. Hartnell, W. Southam, H. N. Johnson, Nelson Hill, H. Leighton, A. L. Low and E. J. Carr (secretary). The secretary reported the position of several pension applications and special matters dealt with at the Dominion conference held recently at Wellington. During the month from 80 to 90 cases were provided with work from the Poppy Day fund, and sustenance was granted in special cases. It was decided to hold a social gathering on the lines of gatherings held last year in the Burwood early next month.
