HOCKEY CLUB’S DANCE. The Inglewood Ladies’ Hockey Club on Tuesday night held one of the most successful euchre parties and dances experienced in the town for some time. The hall had been effectively decorated. Twelve tables were occupied at euchre, Mrs. Nicholls and Mrs. Hewson and Mr. T, Old and .Mrs. J. Blanchard winning the prizes. A large number of dancing enthusiasts attended and dancing was continued till the early hours of the morning. The competition dances were won by Mr. R. Trass and Miss Fitzherbert (Monte Carlo) and Miss M. Dombroski and Mr. K. Burrows (statute waltz). In the latter three couples tied. Supper was served by a committee of ladies. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs. H. Trass’ orchestra. Queen Carnival In the Anglican queen carnival the Kaimata candidate, Miss Hunt, is at present in the lead with 1200 votes, while Miss Burke (Inglewood) is second with 900 and Miss Norcross (Egmont) third with 750. Ladies’ Golf. In the ladies’ medal round played on the Inglewood golf links on Tuesday the best cards returned were those of Mrs. Torrens 110—35—75 and Mrs. Adlam 106—28—78.
| NORDON CUP HOCKEY. MATCH AT ELTHAM TO-DAY. The second Nordon Cup challenge hockey match will be played at Eltham today, when Dannevirke will meet Taranaki. Both teams are very strong and the contest should be keen. Special train arrangements have been made to enable New Plymouth visitors to attend the match and return afterwards. The teams are:— • DANNEVIRKE. Goal: Foreman. Full-backs: Cuff, Hand. Halves: Patetrson, Berrett, O’Brien. Forwards: Jones, D. Tolmie, H. Tolmie, Dalziell, Erickson. Emergencies: Chapman, Smith. The manager is Mr. Schmidt and the referee Mr. Parton. TARANAKI. Goal: Bennett. Full-backs: Ryan, Thompson. Halves: V. Betts, Page, Duncan. Forwards: Fleet, Irwin, Watson, Surgenor, S. Betts. Emergencies: Pitcher, Brough, Ewart. The referee is Mr. Ebbett. The game will start at 3 p.m. and a curtain-raiser will be played at 1.45 between New Plymouth and Eltham ladies’ teams. The Eltham ladies’ team will be: P. Arden, P. Clare, R. Townsend, I. Potts, H. Reakes, B. Walker, L. Potts, M. Taylor, R. Reakes, M. Gower, R. Potts; emergency, K. Bridger. The New Plymouth team will be Mesdames Foster, Cumming, Berry, Montgomerie, Barron, Hutchison, Jones, Eagles, Misses Brough, Clough, JolL
