The need for opening new markets in the East for New Zealand primary produce was emphasised by Mr. D. W. Westenra ,at a meeting of the general committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-day. He said that in view of Great ■ Britain s . increased activity in primary productions it was high time the Dominion awoke to the fact that it had to look , for new markets. . There was a population of 800,000,000 in the East, and this included a large section which would buy New Zealand exports. ~ -, It was decided to refer the question to the Meat Board.
