BROTHERHOOD MEETING

ADDRESS BY MR. J. LEDGERWOOD.

Despite adverse weather there was a good attendance at Sunday’s meeting of the New Plymouth Brotherhood. Captain Chandler presided.

The speaker for the afternoon was Mr. J. H. Ledgerwood, of the Y.M.C.A., who gave the second of his lectures on his travels around the world. He described what he saw on a visit to Sing Sing prison and conditions in the slum areas in London.; Those who assisted with the musical programme were Mr. Vinmcombe (piano), Mr. A. Wright (songs), Captain Chandler and Bandsman A. Smith (comet duet). The Salvation Army Band also played an item. During the morning Captain Chandler, Mr. B. Thorne (secretary) and the band visited the gaol, where a service was conducted on similar lines to the Brotherhood meeting. Mr. A. Slinger sang a solo during the service.
