DEATH OF MR. J.H. CORBETT

OLD RESIDENT OF TARANAKI. Mr. John Henry Corbett, whose death occurred recently was born at New Plymouth 76 years ago. He had most of his schooling at New Plymouth and worked in the district in his younger days. After taking up butchering with the late Mr. John Winks at Hawera, he went to Auckland, where he was employed by Mr. J. Knight, Ponsonby, for many years. He married Mrs. Katy McKenzie, Waipu. Later he moved to Kaeo in the Bay of Islands, where he was employed by Messrs. Hayes and Penny before taking up dairy farming in Taranaki. Mr. Corbett was director of different dairy companies and chairman of the Lowgarth company. He farmed until 14 years ago, when ill-health compelled him to relinquish work and retire to live at New Plymouth. ■ Mr. Corbett was a member of the Armed Constabulary. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
