WOMEN’S DIVISION WORK

EGMONT VILLAGE BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Egrnont Village branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Wednesday, July 5. Mrs. Meuli presided over an attendance of 20 members. It was decided not to send a delegate to the Dominion conference. Mesdames Morton and White gave an interesting talk on knitting, Mrs. White saying how the fisherwomen in the North of England could be seen walking in the streets knitting. Mrs. Morton gave some hints on the washing and care of knitted articles. Mrs. White judged the “peggy square” competition, which was won by Mrs. G. Marsh, with Mrs. H. Morton and Miss J. Morton equal second and Mrs. Belcher third. There was a fine display of knitted and crocheted woollen articles made by branch members.

Afternoon tea was served by the junior members.
