MANUTAHI DISTRICT NEWS

There was only a fair attendance at the‘ Manutahi hall committee’s last euchre party in aid of hall funds. Those present, however, spent a very pleasant evening, ping-pong being played both before and after cards. Interest in pingpong will be stimulated by the fact that the social club has drawn a ladder. It is hoped to arrange games with neighbouring districts as soon, as the ladder adjusts itself. The prizes were won by Mrs. D. S. Richardson and Mr. H. Southcombe. The Manutahi school Rugby team played a practice match against the Mokoia school in the domain on Saturday morning. Both teams were changed frequently and the opportunity was

taken to do as much coaching as possible. Further games have been arranged between the two schools. Messrs R. Church and H. Kibblewhite were in charge of the Mokoia boys, who were conveyed by Mr. W. Marsh. Mr. D. M. Jillett refereed the game, in which the Manutahi boys showed some advantage. The boxing and wrestling school has received an anonymous donation of a punch ball. Mrs. D. S. Richardson has re-donated the euchre prize recently won by her to the hall committee. Mrs. D. M. Jillett is at present at New Plymouth. Mr. E. Clark is in the Hawera Hospital as a result of a recent car accident. He is reported to be making satisfactory progress. Mrs. Walford, who was recently the guest of Mrs. D. S. Richardson, is now at Turakina.
