ADDRESS AT MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Tariki Women’s Institute was held in . the hall [on Saturday, Mrs. Jemison presiding. Owing to lack of time at the ordinary meeting a special general meeting was arranged to discuss remits for the forthcoming Dominion conference. Tlie president paid tribute to the able manner in which Mrs. Blanchard had fulfilled her duties. . - , Sister Corkill, who, after complimenting the ■institute on the variety of its interests, spoke at length on the treatment of sores and wounds. During the course of her most interesting address, the speaker stressed the folly of keeping external and internal remedies . m the same cupboard. At the conclusion of the address several questions were answered by Sister Corkill, who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Another interesting feature or the meeting was the show of members’ handicraft which is to be exhibited at the Hawera winter show. The competition for the afternoon was a butter , sponge sandwich, the judges awarding the prizes as follows: Mrs. Manning 1, Mrs. H. McCullum 2 Mrs. H. Kerr 3. The roll call “My remedy for Colds” proved interesting, and here again Sister Corkill gave valuable suggestions. A “bring and buy” stall was the means of adding considerably to tlie institute funds.
