Over half the players nominated for selection in Britain’s Ryder Cup team failed to qualify in the Leeds 100 C guineas golf tournament. They included Duncan, Twine, Havers, Robson, Jolly, Kenyon,' Seymour, Denny, Green, Hobson (Victoria), J. Fairbairn and Kirwan (W. Australia). '• The competition provided, a thrill, Abe Mitchell, .now a veteran, beating Henry Cotton, one of the ablest young players, two and one, after being four down at the 12th.. ' - In the next round C. Ward, a little known Birmingham professional, took Mitchell to the 19th before beings defeated. -
