SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE. About 60 couples attended the weekly Saturday night dance in.St. John’s hall. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Hopkins and Mr. Petersen. McNeill’s dance band supplied excellent music and extras were played by Miss Rene George. During the evening Mr. Ivan Hulbert gave an exhibition of tap dancing. St. John’s Anglican Church, A mart was held on Saturday in Mr. Moyes’ building, McLean Street, to raise funds to make improvements to St. John’s hall, and considering the state. of the weather the ladies’ committee in charge was satisfied with the turnover and the hall funds will benefit by about £B. Donations of cakes, vegetables, pickles, jams, etc., were readily disposed of. It is understood that the lining of the' supper room and the building of.'a brick chimney will be put in hand immediately, and it is anticipated that the committee will be early repaid for its expenditure. The euchre party and dance held in St. John’s hall in aid of the tennis court at the west beach proved disappointing, only four tables being engaged at euchre, and few dancers attending. Martin’s orchestra played the music, with extras by Misses Rene George and K. FrostMessrs. O. Sampson and R. Grant. The Waitara Cycle and Athletic Club held a euchre party on Wednesday night in St. John’s hall, 13 tables being occupied. The winners were Mrs. R. Allen (13-J games), Mrs. G. Chapman (13) 2, Mr. E.
