In the House of Commons Mr. Walter Runciman, President of the Board of Trade, admitted that since the embargo 19,286 cwt. of Russian butter had been admitted. Licenses were shortly being issued for a further 10,000 cwt. All had been substantially paid for before the embargo was imposed. A full meeting of the New Zealand Dairy Importers’ Association passed a resolution that in view of Mr. W. lorns’ statement the association was of the opinion that its activities should be limited to the advocacy of a quota on foreign butter only.
