Mrs. McGowan, who has been on holiday at Auckland, returned last week. Mrs. Moverley, Nelson, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norcross. Miss Eversleigh has returned from Auckland, but leaves this week to take up a position as teacher at Hamilton. Mrs. Mcllroy, Timaru, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Keenan. Mrs. Owen Jones, who has Deen the guest of Mrs. B. Clough and Mrs. L. Sutherland, has returned to New Plymouth. Mrs. Leslie has returned from a holiday at Gisborne and Napier. Mrs. Dean entertained friends at her home, Dudley Road, last Thursday. Mrs. W. Wheeler, Durham Road, who has been at Ngamotu Beach with Mrs. T. Wheeler sen., returned home last week. Mrs. Torrens, who has been visiting Hawera, has returned. The arts and crafts circle met at Mis. T. Lindsay’s residence on Tuesday afternoon, when an interesting time was spent by all present. Mrs. B. Stevens, who has been the guest of Mrs. R. Cutfield, returned to Ashhurst yesterday morning. Mrs. Henderson entertained at her home on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Wanklyn entertained at bridge on Thursday evening. Mrs. Faris, who has been on holiday at Wellington, has returned. Mrs. Mackay, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. S. Judd. Miss Jean Preo, Auckland, is visiting her mother. Mrs. Grant sen., New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. lan Grant. The members of the play-reading circle spent an enjoyable evening at the residence of Mrs. A. Leech on Tuesday, when several short plays were read and discussed. Among those present were Mesdames Faris, Feaver, Dansie, Braybrooke, Leech and Adnams. Misses Corney and Leech. Supper served by the hostess added much to the evening’s pleasure. Mrs. Bublitz held a successful and pleasant euchre party at her residence on Tuesday night in aid of Inglewood Croquet Club’s funds. Nine tables were engaged. .The winners were Mrs. W. Julian 1, Mrs. F. Julian 2, Mrs. A. Codd consolation; Mr. T. Furlong 1, Mrs. W. Lile (playing as a men) 2, and Mrs. Ashton consolation.
