FUTURE OF ADEN
INDIAN ADMINISTRATION. PROPOSED CHANGE DENIED. Calcutta, May 15. • A report that the administration of Aden would be transferred from the Government of India to the British Government is denied officially. The Government of India states that the matter is in the preliminary stages of discussion, and that it has in no way forgotten its repeated pledge that all interests concerned would be consulted before any decision is reached. These interests include, according to the latest census, 1585 Hindus, 42,838 Moslems, 2245 Christians, 4151 Jews and the Government of India itself, which pays subventions amounting to approximately 20 lakhs of rupees (£154,000).
