FRIENDLY SENIOR CRICKET
HIGH SCHOOL ELEVEN BEATEN. COMBINED SENIOR TEAM WINS. A’ friendly cricket match between a New Plymouth senior eleven and the High School first eleven was played at the High School ground on Thursday. New Plymouth won by 57 runs on the first innings. The town team proved too strong for School, who were dismissed in the first innings for a total of 58 (Meredith and Carroll 10).' Rutherford, with four wickets for 13 runs, had the best bowling average.
New Plymouth lost eight wickets before passing the {School score, but Morris and Spedding got together and added another 40 runs, and with 105 on for nine wickets the innings was declared closed (Gilbert 24, Morris 23, Spedding 14 not out, Rutherford 11 and Ford 10). Christensen took three wickets for 29 and Donnelly three for 21.
In a second knock School did better and had made 64 for three wickets when stumps were drawn. Meredith made 35 and Larkin 20 not out. ,
