TROLLY BUSES NOT TRAMS
CHRISTCHURCH BILL AMENDED. “CONTRAVENES BILLS PENDING.” By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A clause in the Christchurch District Tramway Bill seeking to have trackless trolley buses classified as trapis was defeated in the Legislative Council to-day by 8' votes to 3 on the motion of the. Hon. R. Masters, who stated the clause was contrary to the policy of the Transport Department and contravened legis- . lation which was being prepared for next session. . The Bill was then passed and the Council adjourned at 4.25 p.m. until the ringing of the bells. The House of Representatives resumed at 4.30 p.m. and agreed to the amend- ') ment made by the Council in the Bill. The House adjourned at 4.35 until the ringing of the bells.
