TUNA SPORTS DANCE.
The annual sports dance was held in the Tuna schoolroom. A large crowd attended, visitors being present from Midhirst, Mata, Stratford and Wharehuia. Waite’s orchestra was assisted with extras by Mrs. H. Downs. Among those present were Mesdames A. Porter, A. Kirigam, W. Nichol; 'W. Adlam, H. Kirkby, S. Harrison, W. Skedgwell, L. Downs and T. Cloax, Misses H. Reader (black lace and georgette), F. Harrison (green satm), R. Skedgwell- (white satin), F. Kovaleski (pink satin and lace coatee), J. Jones (blue silk and black satin coatee.', B. Wellington (red rayon), M. Harrison (blue satin), M, Jones (red spotted frock), I. Kirkby (lemon georgette and lace), B. Kovaleski (blue satin, black coatee), M. Hoskin (apricot satin), Z, Tapp 'bfack and white satin, red coatee), Q. Skedgwell (white satin, black velvet coatee), S. Hamblyn (black satin), P. Bell (green crepe de chine), H. Wellington (red rayon), P. Harrison (orange satin), E. Wellington - (green satin) and K. Wellington (white satin, red coatee).
A very interesting gathering took place at Wellington on Monday, the occasion being the presentation of a handsomely bound and autographed volume of seven one-act plays by New Zealand authors to Dame Sybil Thorndike, to whom the plays are dedicated. These plays were the most highly placed in last year’s British Drama League play-writing competition. The hostess was Mrs. Stanley Natusch (Miss Elizabeth Blake), joint secretary of the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League. Mr. Lewis Casson and Mr. Christopher Casson were also present.
