BUILDING CONTRACT CLAIMS

INVOLVED WAITARA CASES. Claims under the Wages Protection and Contractors’ Liens Act, 1908, in connection with the contracts of Ernest James Fussell, formerly a builder of Waitara and now bankrupt, came before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Waitara Court yesterday. There were three different contracts concerned, those of W. Honnor, L. H. Sampson and Morey and Co. Ltd. Mr. A. A. Bennett appeared for .the D.O.A. in each claim and Mr. G. Macallan for the New Plymouth Sash and Door Co. Ltd. In the first contract, that of W. Evidence was taken and argument heard on questions of law, the magistrate reserving decision. Morey and Co. Ltd.’s contract involved three claims, the New Plymouth Sash and Door Co Ltd. £7O 13s 4d, B. J. Kerswell (Mr. Middleton) £ll6, and the Waitara Borough Council £4 7s. of evidence was completed and Mr. Macallan was granted leave to make further submissions in writing regarding one of the points involved.
