The-Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s meeting at Caulfield to-day was held in delightful weather and on a fast track. The former New Zealand horse Closing Time was third in the 50th Oakleigh Plate, which was won by Irbani.

Nokila,' half a neck away, was third and Cupidity fourth. Then came Dark Man, Scalpel, Gossiper, Protea and Trevallion with Beunilly last. Time, 2m. 30is., which equals the course record. Closing Time headed the field at the distance from Pacific Flight, but Irbani then took charge and lasted long enough to stall off a determined challenge by Winooka to win by a head, with Closing Time three-quar-ters of a length away third. Then came Valmist, Eminere, Merab, Stardent, Pacific Flight and Green Line. Time, Im. 415., which is stated to be an Australian and New Zealand record. ST. GEORGE’S STAKES. Of £750. Nine furlongs. EASTERN CHIEF, 7.7 (Britt) 1 KUVERA, 8.13 (Baxter) 2 RUACH, 8.3 (O’Brien) 3 Ten started, including Yarramba, Liberal, Rulanut and Highbrae. Won by half a head, a length and a-quarter between second and third. Rulanut was fourth. Time, lm. 52Js. Liberal, a prominent Victorian colt owned by A. G. Hunter, broke a fetlock in the race and may have to be destroyed.
