Mr. T. R. Cresswell, Wellington, is on a short visit to New Plymouth. Mr. Warwick Gregory, Wellington, New Zealand manager of the Commonwealth and Dominion Steamship Line, visited New Plymouth during the week-end. Mr. C. E. Davy, Hamilton, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth, of which he was formerly a well known resident.

Mr. A. Gray, Wellington, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lumley and Captain Saelfield, England, were guests at the Criterion Hotel, New Plymouth, during the week-end. Mr. E. W. Knox has retired from the board of directors of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company after almost 69 years’ service with the organisation, states a Sydney cable. The Hon. Justice H. H. Ostler left New Plymouth yesterday for Wanganui, where the Supreme Court will open this morning. His Honour will return to New Plymouth later to complete the civil business on the Taranaki calendar. The death of Sir Robert Donald, aged 72, who was the editor of the Daily Chronicle from 1902 to 1918 and the founder of The Municipal Journal and Municipal Year Book, is reported from London. Sir Robert was an authority on local government. In 1930 he was a member of the Royal Commission on Transport. During the war he reported on propaganda and was Director of the Ministry of Information.
