Mrs. Winfield has returned from the beach. Mrs. Thomas, Masterton, is the guest of Miss Johnston, Durham Road. Mrs. Dunbar left on Monday for a week’s holiday at Auckland. Miss D. McPhail, Auckland, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. McGowan, is on a visit to Hawera. Mrs. Gow was a visitor to New Plymouth last week-end. Mrs. Smith, Normanby, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Adlam, Junction Road. Mrs. J. C. M. Allen, who has been the guest of Mrs. M. Allen, Durham Road, left Auckland yesterday by the Marama en route to England. Mrs. Adlam was a visitor to Hawera last week. Mrs. Wanklyn returned on Thursday from a motor trip to Rotorua. Mrs. Faris entertained at bridge on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. McAllum was a bridge hostess on Thursday night. Mrs. Rickenby, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. H. Winter. Mrs. Tait, sen., who has been visiting Mrs. G. Tait, has returned to Auckland. Miss M. Fitzherbert, Inglewood, is spending a holiday at Opunake and is the guest of Mrs. E. Pickering. Mrs. G. Tait entertained friends at her home on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. McAllum held a tennis party yesterday afternoon. Owing to the inclemency of the weather on Wednesday the Women’s Institute was unable to hold its annual picnic at the Meeting of the Waters, in place of which an afternoon was spent in the Presbyterian Hall. Competitions and musical items were enjoyed. Mrs. D. Cameron won the competition. Songs were sung by Mrs. A. Grant and Mrs. Oakshot, and tea brought to a close a pleasant afternoon.
