WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING. Owing to the very wet day the picnic arranged by the Inglewood Women’s Institute to be held at Frethey’s Gardens, New Plymouth, on* Wednesday had to be abandoned. In consequence some of the. members met at the Presbyterian Hall, Miss Trimble presiding. The. afternoon was spent in discussing business letters read by Mrs. Adnams, secretary. Members agreed that a letter should be sent to Miss Spencer wishing her “Godspeed” on her trip to Britain. A compe» tition was won by Mrs. D. Cameron, the prize being donated by Miss Trimble. Songs were contributed by Mesdames A. H. Grant, A. C. Feaver and S. Oakshott, and were much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served, A heavy shower late -on Thursday morning prevented the Inglewood bowling green from being mowed, and consecfuently the banner match against Avon No. 1 had to be postponed. It was unfortunate as the afternoon turned out beautifully fine.
