DISCIPLINING OF TEACHERS

OBJECTION TO AMENDMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. Strong opposition to Clause 4 of the Education Act Amendment Bill, giving school committees power to suspend a teacher for neglect of duty or neglect of a lawful demand, was expressed by the Nelson Education Board to-day. It was decided to strongly protest against the section. The Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, chairman, mentioned the position that would arise in a small backblocks scheme where the committee might show partisanship against a teacher. It was also decided to circularise the various education boards.
