NORTH EGMONT HOSTELRY

FINANCE AND ROADING. • MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the North Committee of the Egmont National Park Board was held last might, Mr. J. S. Connett pre-, siding over Messrs. F. Amoore, G. Gibson, W. M. Groombridge, E. W. M. Ly~. sons and W. H. Skinner. A financial statement for ten. months ended December 31, 1932, showed total receipts, including £1248 from an art union, as £2344. Expenditure had , been £2087, leaving a balance of £257, less ac-r counts outstanding amounting to £95. The manager of the hostelry, Mr. H. A. Nodder,. reported that ■ takings for January at North Egmont House had been £6O more than in January, 1932. The two previous months had shown smaller returns than for November and December, 1931. Certain minor repairs and the question of maintaining firewood supplies were left to the house committee to deal with, after the chairman of that committee, Mr. Amoore, had reported upon them in detail.

The New Plymouth Borough Council advised that the proposed loan for recoating the road through the reserve had not received- the approval of ’ the Local Bodies’ Loans Board. The chairman said application had been made for a share in the proceeds of an art <union, and unless that Was successful it would be impossible to re-cbat the road. The committee would continue to patch the road, but this would not be so satisfactory as |o re-coat the surface. The Taranaki Automobile Association notified that Mr. Amoore would be the association’s representative on the committee vice Mr. F. H. Blundell. Messrs. Gibson and R. Day are to be thanked for assistance afforded in controlling traffic and parking cars at the hostelry on the occasion of the visit of the members of the Presbyterian Conference.
