INCREASE IN THE EXCHANGE RATE. WANGANUI MEETING PROTESTS. ,! ' By Telegraph.—Presi Awociatioß. Wanganui, Last Night. A well-attended meeting of business people convened by the Chamber of Commerce to-day' protested against the raising of the exchange rate and called upon Mr. W. A. Veitch, M.P., to oppose strenuously an “unfair and iniquitous” scheme and the indemnity for the banks. A further motion expressed admiration for Mr. W. Downie Stewart at the stand he had taken.
