Competing ,in tha -50. yards invitation scratch race at the Kiwi Club’s carnival to-night an. intermediate, Walter Jarvis, who celebrated his 16th birthday to-day, beat the Canterbury swimmer McConville by a yard in 255, lowering his own New Zealand record by one fifth of a second. He later heat McConville m a match race over 100 yards by a touch in 58 l-ss. ' x Reg. Geddes, intermediate breaststroxe champion, made a special attempt on his own 100 yards breaststroke record of 76 2-5 s and succeeded in lowering it by four-fifths of a second.
