Although the tennis courts attracted many people at Whangamomona during the week-end much interest was taken in the cricket match between the transmission gang and Whangamomona played on the Whangamomona domain. The day was hot and sultry, and the pitch was in fair order. Transmission were quickly dismissed, Dillon and Stewart showing the best scores with 10 apiece. In their second innings Transmission fared even worse,. Watson reaching 10 when he was run out.

• Whangamomona opened well, Rice making 12, and Frewin topping the score with 17 not out, Partridge made 13. The second innings saw Whangamomona open confidently, their minds evidently centred on the refreshments .which the winning team was to annex. Callaghan, who was a most useful bowler, added 13 before Watson took his stumps, while Todd, who appears to have the makings of a first-class cricketer, added 10, and Partridge 10., With more practice the Whangamomona team should put up a good showing against any team in the district.
