TARANAKI EXECUTIVE MEETS.
CONDITIONS • FOR DIVING EVENTS. , 5
A meeting of the executive- of the Taranaki Centre of the New - Zealand Swimming Association was held at New , Plymouth last night, when there were - present Messrs. F. J. Eggleton (chairman), W. A. Spragg, J. Henderson, A. Petty, J. Devine,-A. Sims, A. Henderson, C. H. Stephenson, Mrs. Govenlock and : , Miss B. Gayton (honorary’ secretary).
The following carnival dates were approved: Opunake, February 8; Hawera, February 2; Stratford, February 16, Flannagan Cup, February 18. It was decided to support the Auckland Centre in protesting against . the., charge for swimming certificates issued to school children. > - ’ The dates for the Learn to Swim Week were put forward a week and will be from February 13 to 17. Messrs. R. Watson (South) and M.' . - Smale (North) were appointed .selectors 1 for the north and south relay teams for? Wednesday next. • Considerable discussion took place on’ the diving for the championship, and it' , was finally decided -that there should be • four dives: (1) Running header off low '-,? board; (2) standing neat header from the high board; (3) forward standing pike' from high board; (4) optional dive, blit ? not to be any of those before stated or. a swallow. ;; ’ ' It was decided to stage a North - v. South polo match on the of the championships in order to give provincial selectors an opportunity to see the players in action. r ’ The question of polo matches on th«<i club carnival programmes was discussed at length and members generally were of the opinion that three games in one night were too many. It was decided to inform -all clubs that their programmes must be approved of by the centre before being advertised. ??? Various matters and arrangements in-?' connection with the Taranaki champion-:,..;, ships to be held at New Plymouth next? Wednesday night were discussed. ?''
