EXPERT BANK ROBBERY
HOLES BURNED THROUGH SAFES. MONEY AND JEWELS WORTH £1739. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.5 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 3. A daring and expert bank robbery occurred during the week-end at the Kew branch of the E.S. and A. Bank. Thieves 1 burned holes through two safe doors and secured money and jewellery valued at £1739. Three bank pistols were also stolen. Detectives express the opinion that the job must have occupied four hours. The whole safe-breaking kit was left behind.
