CALF-REARING COMPETITION. Although only four competed in the calf-rearing competition at the local school the judges commented on the healthy condition of the entrants. The demonstration given on the good Points, etc., was attentively listened to by the children. The judges were Messrs. A. E. Washer (type), F. W. Sutton (condition) and Mr. Smith (note books). Miss Dulcie McCullum, a pupil of b. Mary’s school for girls (Stratford) -won the junior tennis championship for the school, gaining the cup donated by the Herbert Smith Trust. Miss McCullum is also a promising member of the lariKi Tennis Club. , The Tariki bowlers suffered defeat at Eltham last week by 63 to 23. The district was visited on Sunday by the Eltham boys’ band, which was greatly appreciated. A visit , was paid to the T Mtas Foster^Stratford, is spending her vacation with her sister, Mrs. H. Kerr, Surrey Road. . Miss Logan, infant teacher, is spending her vacation at Gore, South Island. Mrs. L. Grant, Papakura, is paying a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Young, Tariki Road.
